A chinese abacus
An abacus was a calculating tool used for performing arithmetical calculations.
On Earth, the tool was mainly used in Asia, where it was in use centuries before the adoption of written numeral systems.
Merlin Athrawes reintroduced the abacus to the Safeholdians to bring more advanced mathematical ability to the merchants and scientists of Charis and other realms. (OAR)
